🚨 NEW: CEPI has launched an additional Call for Proposals in response to the current Bundibugyo virus (BDBV) outbreak in the DRC and Uganda to support critical, time-sensitive activities that directly inform and support vaccine R&D decision-making. Two workstreams are in scope: 🔵 Epidemiology, modelling and analytics 🔵 Immunological and clinical assessment of potential cross-reactive antibodies induced by existing Ebola vaccines. The Call is open to global applicants; special consideration will be given to proposals from, or partnering with, groups based in Africa. ➡️ Read the full text to find out more, including eligibility criteria and how to apply via the CEPI Portal: https://lnkd.in/eUpAe-xJ Deadline: 22 June 2026. ➡️ This Call is complementary to CEPI’s other Call for Proposals, which is seeking to urgently accelerate the development of BDBV vaccine candidates. Om oss
CEPI is an innovative partnership between public, private, philanthropic and civil organisations. Its mission is to accelerate the development of vaccines and other biologic countermeasures against epidemic and pandemic threats so they can be accessible to all people in need. Central to CEPI’s pandemic-beating plan is the ‘100 Days Mission’ – its goal to develop safe, effective and accessible vaccines against new threats in just 100 days. CEPI is seeking $2.5 billion to execute CEPI 3.0, its 2027-2031 strategy, which will systematically reduce the likelihood, impact and cost of epidemics and pandemics by driving the 100 Days Mission towards an operational reality. New funding from CEPI will help take a promising nanoparticle vaccine platform into early clinical development, with the aim of speeding up how we respond to future outbreaks. We’re investing up to $9.7m in POP Biotechnologies to advance its SNAP™ platform, including a Phase 1 trial targeting H5N1 avian influenza, following an earlier initial investment. The approach is designed to make vaccine development faster and more efficient, from simplifying antigen purification to enabling a more flexible “plug-and-play” design that could be adapted quickly for new threats. This kind of platform innovation is central to the 100 Days Mission: helping ensure the world can develop safe, effective vaccines within 100 days of a new virus emerging. It’s also a key part of CEPI 3.0 - building the technologies we need now so we’re better prepared for the next epidemic or pandemic. CEPI is urgently accelerating the development of three investigational vaccine candidates towards clinical trials in response to the deeply concerning Bundibugyo ebolavirus epidemic. The outbreak, affecting the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda, has been classified as a public health emergency by both the Africa CDC and the World Health Organization. Just weeks since it was declared, it is already the third-largest Filovirus outbreak in history. With no licensed vaccines available for Bundibugyo virus and none in clinical development, CEPI's action reflects the critical need to produce additional tools to help curtail the outbreak. CEPI is investing up to $62 million to back a portfolio of candidates under development from longstanding partners with proven capabilities. These include candidates developed by IAVI, Moderna, and the University of Oxford, which will be manufactured at the Serum Institute of India Pvt. Ltd. The candidates were selected based on CEPI's comprehensive global review of Bundibugyo virus vaccines in development and extensive consultation with WHO, Africa CDC, ANRS-MIE, Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance and affected countries. Each uses a different validated vaccine technology to maximise the likelihood of success. All of the underlying vaccine technology platforms—rVSV, mRNA and ChAdOx1—have extensive safety data and have been used to develop vaccine candidates that have shown preclinical or clinical efficacy against related filoviruses. CEPI’s funding will ultimately support each vaccine candidate to begin clinical trials as quickly as possible. ➡️ Get the details in the press release: https://lnkd.in/eacpXf3p ➡️ CEPI has also opened an urgent Call for Proposals seeking additional Bundibugyo virus vaccine candidates. 🚨 CEPI has launched an urgent Call for Proposals seeking to accelerate early‑stage vaccine candidates against Bundibugyo virus (BDBV), following the 2026 public health emergency declared by the Africa CDC and WHO. With cases rising across the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda — and no licensed vaccine available — there is a critical need to fast‑track promising candidates that could support current outbreak response efforts, and also help to strengthen the future pipeline against this deadly virus. CEPI will award funding to advance scientifically robust, operationally feasible BDBV vaccine candidates that can move rapidly toward Phase 1 evaluation. CEPI is specially seeking candidates with strong preclinical signals, rapid development timelines, and potential for scalable, equitable access. Developers, especially those in Africa or partnering with African institutions, are encouraged to apply via the CEPI Portal. Read the full Call text to learn more, including eligibility criteria and how to apply: https://lnkd.in/euh_e332 📅 Deadline to apply: 12 June 2026. 🇨🇦 Earlier this month, part of the CEPI Team visited Canada's capital, Ottawa, for a productive set of conversations with partners across Canada's political departments, national agencies and science institutions. Conversations centred around our ongoing vaccine research in the country and the continuing need to advance pandemic preparedness. The trip included an R&D Fair organised by Results Canada bringing MPs together with leaders from across the Canadian science and innovation community to showcase their work in global health and infectious diseases. The visit also saw our CEO, Richard Hatchett, meet with Canadian civil society organisations to talk about pandemic preparedness, CEPI's new strategy and our mission to develop vaccines within 100 days of identifying a new pandemic threat. Read more about our trip in the Q+A linked below by Tessie Sanci reporting in The Hill Times (paywalled). You can also find out more about our work with Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization (VIDO), an important CEPI partner at the University of Saskatchewan, in the comments.

CEPI is supporting a new project to tackle a critical bottleneck in vaccine manufacturing: how to quickly and reliably detect residual host cell DNA - an important step in ensuring vaccines meet quality and safety standards - during production. Through its Analytical Innovations Call, CEPI is providing $200,000 to Alveo Technologies to support a proof-of-concept for a rapid, on-site testing approach that can deliver near real-time results. Currently, this type of analysis often depends on centralised laboratory testing, which can slow down decision-making. This project aims to change that by enabling decentralised, cartridge-based testing, which will help to reduce time, cost and complexity, while supporting faster and more agile vaccine manufacturing. By integrating sample processing and DNA detection into a portable, closed system, the approach could make high-quality analytics more accessible across different settings, including those with more limited infrastructure.
