The cabbage dummy acts as a stand-in for the Kitchen manager at Fort Forinthry. It appears after New Foundations and during the beginning of Murder on the Border before the kitchen is built. Reading the note Aster attached to it lists the kitchen tiers and their benefits when built.

Following the events of the quest, the cabbage dummy was used by Rodney.
