The selection screen interface that appears upon starting a new unfinished smithing item.
Forges are interactive scenery used to heat unfinished smithing items while smithing on an anvil. Like anvils, forges can also be used to begin a new unfinished smithing item and access the metal bank via a selection screen.
Making progress on an unfinished smithing item consumes heat. Smithing an item that has run out of heat results in slower progress, and as a result, less experience gained per hour. Heating an unfinished smithing item to full heat in a forge provides faster experience and completion times but must be frequently repeated to maintain the benefit.
If multiple unfinished smithing items are in the inventory, only the one that comes first in the inventory can be heated, even if that one is already at full heat, or if others are used directly on the forge. The others can only be heated by changing the items' positions.
Unlit dwarvern forges are found within Thalmund's Forge in the Warforge Dig Site. Completion of the Into the Forgemystery is required to activate the forge. Within Artisans' WorkshopLuminite injectors can be used; these cause each hammer swing to add an additional base progress to the player's current Smithing product, so at full heat there will be additional two progress gained per swing.
