Revolution (colloquially revo) is a combat mode that automatically uses abilities for the player. It was released on 24 February 2014. It can be toggled from the Combat Settings interface, or by right-clicking the gear icon in the action bar. Revolution automatically triggers the first available compatible ability on the action bar, and can access any number of slots in the bar.

Settings

[edit | edit source]

Clicking the gear icon in the action bar opens the Combat Settings interface. In this menu, players can choose how many abilities are automatically triggered by Revolution. This number can range anywhere from 1 to 14 abilities. Next to this, the player can also choose which types of abilities are automatically triggered. The types are basic abilities, threshold abilities, enhanced abilities and ultimate abilities.

Only the main action bar can be used by Revolution; additional action bars are not used.

Revolution with threshold abilities set to automatic is sometimes called "Revolution+" (or informally "revo+"). Revolution with all abilities set to automatic is sometimes called "Revolution++" (or informally "revo++").

Revolution/Bars documents some Revolution bars that players generally find effective, and optimal bars in some scenarios.

Default setups

[edit | edit source]

The first time the Revolution setting is activated, the interface offers to suggest a basic initial setup for the abilities in the action bar; depending on the type of fighter a character is, default setups suggested differ for Melee, Ranged, and Magic warriors. An average ability damage per tick value is given for comparison with customised bars such as ones listed in the section above. The default setups are generally viewed as not very effective as simply reordering the abilities can greatly increase their damage output.

The average damage per tick is calculated by using this open source program with its default options, except that the target is assumed to be stationary and immune to both stuns and binds. It assumes 100% hit chance against a single enemy, and that Revolution is set to trigger all kinds of abilities.

  • patch 5 May 2026 (Update):
    • Resolved an issue where using revolution with a 1 tile range weapon would sometimes cause you to chase the target longer than expected. No longer should you be having a polite standoff with an opponent as they walk around!

    • Enhanced abilities can now be toggled on or off during revolution combat
  • patch 12 December 2022 (Update):
    • Revolution now supports untargeted Agility abilities, so Escape and Surge can once again be put on a Revolution bar, if that's how you roll!
  • patch 12 July 2021 (Update):
    • Fixed an issue that could cause the Revolution bar on mobile to not draw correctly.
  • patch 17 May 2021 (Update):

    • Regenerate is no longer triggered by Revolution.
    • Revolution now fires combat abilities when stats are boosted.

  • patch 3 July 2017 (Update):
    • A check has been added to ensure that Revolution functions correctly with a shield equipped.
  • hotfix 12 June 2017 (Update):

Trivia

[edit | edit source]
  • During the Combat Improvements Beta, Revolution was a basic ability that was toggled on and off with an animation identical to Rejuvenate.
  • Revolution was inspired by a player-made idea on the forums called Conservation.
  • Originally, Revolution would automatically trigger only basic abilities, forcing the player to activate threshold and ultimate abilities manually. This was changed on 6 November 2017.
