Traders are dwarves that found in Keldagrim, the capital of the Dwarven Realm. They work in the Trade Octagon, a large area in the city's massive palace.

The eight ruling companies of Keldagrim, the Consortium, are in constant need of labour, ore, and mining rights. Although some transactions are done formally behind desks by the companies' directors and secretaries, the large amount of trading performed often requires less formal methods. To accomplish this, the Consortium has hired traders to perform trades in the Trade Octagon.

Two traders for each company stand on each side of the Octagon, found in the centre of the city. Here they shout out their offers and look for potential deals. To help oversee this, the Trade Referee stands in the centre of the Octagon and ensures that the octagon runs as smoothly as possible.

Traders do not currently have roles in any quests, and cannot be talked to, but at level 90 Thieving, players may pickpocket them.

Pickpocketing

[edit | edit source]

Pickpocketing the traders requires a Thieving level of 90 and gives 389.5 experience if successful. If a player fails to pickpocket a dwarf trader, they will be stunned for 4.8 seconds and dealt 10 damage + 3% of base life points. There are trade floor guards around which will attack players if the players fail to pickpocket them.

Trivia

[edit | edit source]
  • Traders originally dealt only 10 damage when stunning players. However, a week after the release of the Oblivious perk, their damage output was increased to balance the high XP gains the perk allowed.
