Cyprus presidency of the Council of the EU
The Presidency of the Council of the European Union rotates among the member states of the EU every six months. On 1 January 2026, Cyprus assumes the presidency of the Council of the EU for the second time since its accession to the Union.

Thursday 22 January: EESC Plenary Session
The 602nd Plenary Session of the EESC chaired by the EESC President Séamus Boland takes place on Wednesday 21 January (14:30-18:30) and will continue on Thursday 22 January (9:00-13:00).
On Thursday 22 January at 09:30, the Deputy Minister for European Affairs of Cyprus, Marilena Raouna, presents to the Plenary the priorities of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
