The EMPL Committee will hold a hearing on 28 January 2026 on working conditions in Amazon warehouses. The hearing follows the revocation of Amazon’s lobbying passes in early 2024, an exchange of views in January 2024, and a hearing in June 2025, from which Amazon was absent due to insufficient senior representation.
The EMPL Committee will hold an exchange of views with the Cyprus Presidency. Ministers Marinos Moushouttas (Minister of Labour and Social Insurance), Konstantinos Ioannou (Minister of Interior), and Clea Papaellina (Deputy Minister of Social Welfare) will present the Presidency’s priorities and programme in the fields of employment, social policy and housing.
On 15 January, the EMPL Committee will hold an exchange of views with the Commission on the 2025 Employment and Social Developments in Europe (ESDE) report. This year's report focuses on the situation of underrepresented groups on the labour market and on how their integration can help address EU labour and skills shortages.
The rapporteur, Liesbet Sommen (EPP), will present her draft report on the sixth revision of the Directive on the protection of workers from exposure to carcinogens, mutagens and reprotoxic substances at work (CMRD 6), on 15 January.
On 15 January, the EMPL Committee will hold an exchange of views on its opinion on the BUDG interim report on the proposal for the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) 2028–2034, drafted by Klara Dobrev, S&D. The interim report sets out Parliament’s priorities ahead of negotiations with the Council and will play a key role in shaping the overall expenditure ceilings and main parameters for EU spending in the next programming period.
