We finance, build, and operate exceptional affordable housing to promote dignity, health, and economic independence.
About us
Century Housing is committed to creating affordable housing. As a network of nonprofit affiliates, we finance, develop, and manage exceptional affordable housing communities across California. From our start in 1995, Century Housing Corporation has grown into a leading Community Development Financial Institution providing end-to-end financing for affordable and workforce housing. We have invested more than $2.8 billion in communities throughout California, creating more than 58,000 affordable and workforce homes. Century also serves as a skilled partner with developers, government agencies, and other CDFIs in pioneering innovative financing programs. We also develop and manage affordable and supportive housing through affiliates such as Century Affordable Development, Inc., Century Oasis Residential Services, and Century Villages at Cabrillo, our award-winning, 27-acre supportive housing community with more than 1,500 residents in Long Beach. We are a principal developer with our partners on master-planned communities including the West LA VA North campus and Rancho San Pedro. Century was born from one of the largest public works projects in U.S. history. In 1972, planning began on the Century (105) Freeway, a major thoroughfare that would connect the Los Angeles Airport to the city of Norwalk. Residents affected by the proposed freeway fought the construction and filed litigation seeking to temporarily halt construction. In 1979, a solution was reached: the creation of the Century Freeway Housing Program. This state agency was tasked with creating nearly 4,000 units of affordable housing for those displaced by the freeway's construction along with providing minority and female employment opportunities. Having successfully exceeded its initial housing development goal, the agency was privatized and renamed as Century Housing Corporation. Century remains the only known California state program converted into a private, nonprofit organization.

In a region known for tourism and luxury, the working residents who keep Napa running have been priced out of homeownership. The Redwood Building is helping change that. As the first phase of The Crescent redevelopment, The Redwood Building will bring 40 affordable for-sale homes to working households in Napa, with up to 132 more planned in future phases. The project will transform a long-vacant public site into housing that will remain affordable for years to come, helping local families continue living in the area they already call home. Century Housing is proud to be part of this community-driven effort through construction financing: "The Redwood Building reflects what’s possible when thoughtful design, strong partnerships, and disciplined financing come together,” said Karen Davis, VP, Loan Officer at Century Housing. For many of us who work in affordable housing and community development, the mission is deeply personal. In an interview with Multi-Housing News, Century President & CEO Jacqueline Waggoner reflects on the important role her mother played in shaping her lifelong commitment to serving others and helping people and communities thrive. As Jacqueline shares, “At Century, our mission is not about housing alone, but about what housing makes possible for people." A new video from our partner Jamboree Housing Corporation highlights the grand opening of Larkin Place in Claremont—now a supportive housing community offering residents stable homes and onsite services. Permanent supportive housing is one of the most effective responses to homelessness because it treats a stable home as the foundation for better futures. Pairing homes with services helps residents improve their health, strengthen connections, and build long-term stability. Century Housing is proud to have provided permanent and acquisition financing for Larkin Place. As Josh Hamilton, Century Senior Vice President of Lending, shared at the grand opening: “Every community that says ‘yes’ to a Larkin Place type of development is part of the solution we need to address this homelessness crisis.” Watch the video: https://lnkd.in/gUcKJ_bS

Drone footage shows steady progress at Century + Restorative Care Village, where construction began in June 2025 and is moving quickly. With the podium parking garage complete and framing well underway, the team is racing to the roof, expected to be reached by late summer. Meanwhile, Phase II has secured tax credits and is on track to close in early summer. When complete, Century + Restorative Care Village in Los Angeles' Lincoln Heights neighborhood will deliver 296 permanent supportive and affordable homes across two phases, alongside community-serving amenities designed to support healing and stability. Developed in partnership with the County and City of Los Angeles and in coordination with Los Angeles General Medical Center and local organizations, the campus will include a peer respite facility, workforce development kitchen and café, and thoughtfully designed outdoor spaces for residents and the surrounding community. The One San Pedro Collaborative has released its 2025 Annual Report, reflecting a year marked by important milestones and continued community partnership. Century Housing’s development arm, Century Affordable Development, Inc., along with HACLA, National Community Renaissance, and The Richman Group, continue to advance the vision for Rancho San Pedro. Since the beginning, one core belief has remained constant: It takes more than housing to build healthy, vibrant communities—it requires collaboration, opportunity, and sustained investment in people and neighborhoods. The report highlights key progress in 2025, including the groundbreaking of 327 Harbor, the first phase of redevelopment that will bring 47 energy-efficient homes to San Pedro. 🔗 Read the full report here: https://lnkd.in/gwiU7dpC. #AffordableHousing #SanPedroCA #RanchoSanPedro #CommunityDevelopment #onesanpedro
