BSD Fortune is a command-line program that prints a random fortune when run. I didn’t write it — I just tweaked it and packaged it up for Mac OS X.
The program includes a collection of fortune files covering a wide range of topics. It makes a great addition to your .login or .profile to show a random fortune each time you open a Terminal.
