15.01.2026 — The Universal Postal Union’s Post4Health initiative continues to expand its reach by strengthening healthcare logistics through the postal network. Launched in 2025, the project in Côte d’Ivoire is supporting La Poste de Côte d’Ivoire in improving the safe and timely delivery of essential medical supplies, particularly in remote and underserved rural areas.

Since its launch in 2018, the UPU’s gender fellowship has continued to grow as a flagship initiative to empower women leaders in the postal sector. The programme translates the UPU’s gender equality and empowerment of women (GEEW) policy into its capacity-building work, offering women professionals international exposure, leadership development and direct engagement with the Union’s governing bodies.

26.12.2025 — The postal sector is facing a reckoning. While the global economy has surged by 75% since 2006, postal revenues have seen minimal growth – just 4% over the same period. The result, as the Universal Postal Union’s (UPU) State of the Postal Sector 2025 report makes clear, is an unprecedented 71% “performance gap” that threatens the sustainability of postal operators around the world.

19.12.2025 — 19 December (Berne, Switzerland) – UNI Global Union and the Universal Postal Union have signed a new cooperation agreement which will see the two organizations work more closely together to strengthen ties between workers and employers and safeguard the future of the global postal sector.

17.12.2025 — Airmail emerged as aviation opened new possibilities for connecting people across long distances. As aircraft began to demonstrate their potential for carrying mail quickly and reliably, the UPU worked to help postal administrations adapt to this new mode of transport. The development of airmail soon became an important part of the wider evolution of international postal services, tracing a path from early experimental flights to the establishment of global air routes.
