"Extended" formula is Cu+20Cu2+7(S2)7S10 (Goble, 1985).
Colour:
Bluish-grey, black
Lustre:
Metallic
Hardness:

Name:
Named in 1980 by R. J. Goble after its discovery locality, Yarrow Creek valley, Alberta, Canada.
Chalcocite-Yarrowite Series.

Stoichiometrically similar to the covellite (CuS).
See also the closely related spionkopite. Often forms mixtures with anilite, covellite, digenite, djurleite, and/or spionkopite.
A typical intergrowth of yarrowite and spionkopite is called Blaubleibender Covellite.

Note: Subcell strongly resembles covellite.
