  • Starting a new role is always a blend of excitement and uncertainty.🤹 Through our #FINShip Mentoring Programme, we are committed to ensuring that no one navigates this journey alone. New colleagues, new responsibilities, new ways of working, and sometimes even a new culture: while these experiences are enriching and inspiring, they can also feel overwhelming at first. 🤝 FINShip is designed to support both newcomers and colleagues who wish to further integrate within the Directorate-General for Finance (DG FINS). From day one, participants are paired with a mentor who provides guidance, shares insights, and helps them confidently find their way. 💫Take the example of José Maria and Rosanna, who joined the programme in 2023. Over six months, José Maria mentored Rosanna through regular exchanges, offering advice and sharing his experience. While Rosanna benefited from this personalised support, the experience was equally enriching for José Maria, who discovered mentoring for the first time. What started as a professional exchange evolved into a lasting connection and a genuine friendship. Because mentorship goes beyond guidance: it is about building meaningful relationships and fostering a strong sense of community. Today, they still meet regularly, continuing to support each other’s professional journey. 👥 At DG FINS, integration is not only about understanding processes; it is about feeling welcomed, supported, and part of a community. #Mentorship #Onboarding #DGFINS #PeopleFirst #StrongerTogether

  • 👥 A new edition of our #FINSfaces series: Meet Benedetta & Victor! At DG FINS, colleagues from a wide variety of backgrounds contribute to ensuring that the European Parliament’s financial and administrative systems function smoothly, transparently and efficiently across the institution. Today, we are highlighting Benedetta and Victor, whose work contributes to legal compliance and transparency, as well as a smooth running of financial systems in the EP. 💼 ⚖️ Benedetta – Legal Assistant, Compliance Monitoring Unit Benedetta joined the European Parliament as a #SchumanTrainee in 2024 and continued her journey in DG FINS as a Legal Assistant in the Compliance Monitoring Unit. Through this role, she has gained experience managing complex and sensitive files linked to financial compliance and transparency. For Benedetta, precision and multitasking are essential, especially when working across different legal frameworks and evolving compliance requirements. What she values most is contributing to ensuring the responsible and transparent use of public funds. 🌍 💻 Victor – Administrator Accounting IT Systems, FMS Competence Centre Unit Victor first joined DG FINS as a Schuman trainee in 2022 and has since continued his professional journey within the European Parliament. • DG FINS colleagues experienced Europe Day in many different ways - but all with the same spirit of openness, diversity and European cooperation. 🤝 From volunteering at the Council of the European Union and representing national cultures in traditional clothing, to guiding international students through the European Parliament in Luxembourg 🎓, our FINSers helped bring Europe closer to citizens and visitors alike. Others explored the European institutions from a different perspective: discovering the Europe Experience 🏛️, stepping into interpreters’ booths to learn more about multilingualism 🎧, singing in the European Parliament Choir to perform the Ode to Joy 🎶, joining guided tours and debates, or getting creative through interactive activities across the European Quarters in Brussels in Luxembourg. Europe Day was a reminder that Europe is not only about institutions and policies - it is also about people, cultures, languages and shared experiences. 🌍 For many of our colleagues, Europe represents opportunity, exchange, inclusion and the possibility to grow together beyond borders. 💙 A big thank you to everyone who contributed to making this Europe Day such a vibrant celebration of the EU motto: United in Diversity. #EuropeDay2026 #EuropeanParliament #DGFINS

  • 💬 FINSchat on JSIS & EP Healthcare: Smart Tips Our latest FINSchat - a lunchtime discussion hosted by our Directorate for Political Structures Financing and Resources, led by Inês Morgado - offered valuable tips and insights into the EU’s PMO, the Joint Sickness Insurance Scheme (JSIS) and the European Parliament's Medical Service.🏥 🎙️ Our expert speakers included: • Petra Buzasi, Acting Head of Sector, JSIS Luxembourg Settlement Office, European CommissionAlexander Baumgärtel, Head of Unit and Medical Officer, Medical Service Luxembourg, DG PERS • Johanne Vermer, Advisor to the Director-General, DG FINS, with previous experience at the PMO • Eva Buda, Head of DG FINS' Members’ Salaries and Social Entitlements Unit, who moderated the discussion 💡 One key takeaway for colleagues was gaining a better understanding of what working at the PMO, a JSIS Settlement Office or the Medical Service actually involves. Beyond the subject matter, the rhythm of the work is very different - after all, sickness and emergencies don’t pause for weekends or holidays.⏱️ 📊 Participants were also impressed by how a relatively small team at the JSIS Luxembourg office manages a high volume of cases efficiently. They received practical guidance on how to support their work - including tips on submitting complete and accurate reimbursement requests and avoiding common mistakes. 🌍 Another important reminder: the EU framework ensures access to healthcare across all Member States. In addition, EP’s Medical Service and Social Workers are not only there in emergencies, but also play a key role in prevention, supporting both physical and mental well-being. 💙 🙏 A big thank you to our speakers for sharing their expertise - making this FINSchat a truly insightful and useful lunchtime session! #DGFINS #FINSchat #EuropeanParliament #Healthcare #JSIS #Wellbeing

  • 🎉Welcome onboard! 21 new trainees from across the EU started their journey in DG FINS last month. March marked the beginning of an exciting journey as DG FINS trainees started their Schuman traineeship at the European Parliament. 🚀 📚 An engaging Introduction Week provided valuable insights into the work of the institution and an opportunity to connect with fellow trainees from across Europe. 🗳️Four DG FINS trainees courageously presented themselves at the elections for the Schuman Trainees’ Committee. Two of them, Marta Bruschi & Ana Cristina Broto Lueza, were successfully elected, strengthening our DG’s representation and engagement within the traineeship community.👏 Our trainees also had the privilege of meeting the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, as part of an interinstitutional welcome event for EU trainees - a truly inspiring moment. ✨ 🚆 At the end of March, our trainees from Luxembourg and Brussels came together for a two-day study visit in Brussels, visiting key EU institutions and bodies, including the European External Action Service, the European Commission, the Council of the European Union, and the European Parliament's premises - from the Hemicycle (following the Brussels Mini Session) to the Parlamentarium and the House of European History. 🏛️📸 What a dynamic and enriching start to this traineeship - we are looking forward to what lies ahead for our new cohort! 😊 👉 Would you like to join DG FINS? Applications for the next Schuman traineeship (starting October 2026) open on 1 May 2026. • 🏅 Collective Intelligence Olympics at DG FINS - a highlight of our 4th Town Hall Meeting For the first time ever, our FINSers became Olympians - with a twist! The disciplines were less about physical performance (in most cases 😉) and more about team spirit, creativity and, of course, demonstrating collective intelligence. 🧠✨ From guessing EU acronyms or financial figures 🔢, and recreating key moments in EU history 📜, to drafting a poem about our DG FINS Ethics Charter📝 and even developing a dance choreography 🎶- our colleagues showcased their talents across units and locations while discovering European Parliament's Adenauer Building in Luxembourg. Beyond the fun, it was a great opportunity to connect, collaborate and think differently outside our usual working environment. 🤝 The results? Astonishing!👏 See for yourself…📸 #DGFINS #TownHall #CollectiveIntelligence #Teamwork #EuropeanParliament

  • 🧠 Unleashing our Collective Intelligence at DG FINS - supported by 1492® The Collective Intelligence and WeBrain.AI Collective Intelligence was at the heart our fourth DG FINS Town Hall. 🎤 An impactful FINStalk by Michael Hengl shared the latest scientific insights on the concept, predictors and drivers of collective intelligence - and how these can be applied in our everyday work. Our FINSers then put these learnings into practice by competing in a virtual pong-game🎾- using innovative technology provided by 1492®🟥🟩. And - fasten your seatbelts - that was not all: the auditorium was transformed into a virtual cockpit ✈️ , where our colleagues collectively steered an airplane under the Golden Gate Bridge 🌉 - a true demonstration of collective intelligence in action! 💡In the second part, we used WeBrain.AI’s crowdsourcing technology to collaboratively contribute to DG FINS’ future strategy. Harnessing the wisdom of the crowds can indeed lead to powerful outcomes - a big thank you to Michael Hengl, Aaron Paul Hengl-Brandauer and Rose Maria Hengl and the entire 1492® The Collective Intelligence team for their support. Curious about the third part of our Town Hall - the Collective Intelligence Olympics?🏅 Like this post and stay tuned!⏳ #DGFINS #TownHall #CollectiveIntelligence #1492 #EuropeanParliament
