In 1987, the European Commission launched a simple yet powerful idea to promote opportunities for intellectual and cross-cultural learning and exchange: giving young Europeans the chance to study abroad. Beginning as a programme to promote cooperation across universities and higher education institutions, the Erasmus programme has now grown into Erasmus+, a beacon of discovery, learning and personal growth. With over 15 million people having benefited from the scheme – including students, teachers and trainees – it has become one of the most recognised and celebrated programmes of the European Union.
This year, Erasmus+ celebrate 38 years of encounters, friendships and shared adventures, as the programme continues to inspire generations and build bridges between countries across Europe.
From studying to volunteering, from school to the workplace – Erasmus+ has something for everyone. Check out the opportunities available and encourage your students to do the same!
