Highlights
On 14 July 2026, the LIBE committee held an exchange of views on ‘The state of LGBTIQ+ rights in Europe and the importance of protection of minority rights in a healthy democracy’. Representatives from the European Commission, the Fundamental Rights Agency, ILGA-Europe and national authorities discussed on the current state of LGBTIQ+ rights in Europe.
On 14 July, Henrik Nielsen, Director for International Affairs, Returns and Visa in DG HOME, European Commission and Jean-Nicolas Beuze, UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) Representative for EU Affairs discussed with the LIBE-Committee on the external dimension of asylum and the establishment of multi-purpose centres along the migratory routes.
On 14 July, the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs exchanged on the upcoming proposal for an IT return case management system with representatives from the European Commission and Frontex.
On 13 July, the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs welcome the Irish Minister of State for European Affairs, Thomas Byrne, to discuss the Irish Presidency’s priorities on rule of law issues.
