On 18 February, the LIBE Members have exchanged on the topics of gender-based violence and the right to international protection of Afghan women and girls with representatives of the European Commission and the UNHCR Representation for EU Affairs.

Henna VIRKKUNEN, the European Commission Executive Vice-President for Tech Sovereignty, Security and Democracy exchanged with LIBE Members on Tuesday 18 February on her priorities and future work in areas related to the Committee’s competences.

Pursuant to Article 53 of Regulation (EU) No. 2018/1725 (the Data Protection Regulation for EU Institutions), the European Data Protection Supervisor is appointed jointly by the European Parliament and the Council for a term of five years. This appointment is based on a shortlist prepared by the European Commission following a public call for candidates.
