On 10 November, the European Parliament’s Policy Department B will organise a workshop—requested by the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs—on the Commission’s new EU LGBTIQ+ Equality Strategy 2026–2030, which builds on the previous 2020–2025 strategy.

On 13 October, the LIBE Committee held an exchange of views on judicial independence and rule of law developments in Spain. The discussion included Mr Julien Mousnier, Director at DG JUST, representing the European Commission, as well as representatives from Spanish judges’ and prosecutors’ associations.

On 23rd of September, Commissioner McGrath presented to LIBE Members, the 2025 Rule of Law Report, adopted on 8 July 2025, outlining key findings across its four pillars: the justice system, the anti-corruption framework, media freedom and pluralism, and other checks and balances.

On Monday, 22 September, LIBE Members discussed the simplification packages in the digital policy area, including the Omnibus IV proposal and the digital Omnibus, with the representatives from the Commission. The Omnibus IV package seeks to ease administrative burdens on Small Mid-Cap companies (SMCs), notably through targeted amendments to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
