The Commission proposed to adopt the decision to mobilize the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund for Displaced Workers (EGF) following the application from Belgium relating to 3 414 displaced workers whose activity had ceased in Audi and 5 suppliers and downstream producers, following the closure of Audi's production plant in Brussels.

On 26 January 2026 the Members of Committees on Budgets and Budgetary Control will hold an exchange of views on the Commission's approval of Hungary's transfer of part of its frozen funds in the context of the cohesion policy mid-term review and on the different rule of law instruments with Roxana Mînzatu, EVP for Social Rights and Skills, Quality Jobs and Preparedness; Raffaele Fitto, EVP for Cohesion and Reforms; and Piotr Serafin, Commissioner for Budget, Anti-Fraud and Public Administration.

The aim of the public hearing on "Own Resources for the future: critical review & opportunities" is first to evaluate the expected impact of the proposed basket of new own resources (Commission proposal 2025/0574(CNS)) on the Union's financial autonomy and resilience, then to critically analyse potential adoption challenges and weaknesses, and finally to assess alternative revenue sources as complementary or possible substitute options.

The Committee on Budgets will hold a debate on the guidelines for next year's budget, presented by the general rapporteur for the 2027 budget, Mr Nils Ušakovs.

On 27 January 2026, Members of the BUDG and CONT Committees will hold a joint exchange of views with Piotr Serafin, Commissioner for Budget, Anti-Fraud and Public Administration, on establishing a budget expenditure tracking and performance framework and other horizontal rules for the Union programmes and activities.

Executive VP Fitto for Cohesion and Reforms, Commissioner Serafin for Budget, Anti-Fraud and Public Administration, and Commissioner Hansen for Agriculture and Food, will join the Committees on Budgets, on Regional Development and on Agriculture and Rural Development for an exchange on the Commission’s proposal for the establishment of the European Fund for economic, social and territorial cohesion, agriculture and rural, fisheries and maritime, prosperity and security security (NRP Fund).

The Committee on Budgets will discuss the Commission's proposal to mobilize the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) in favor of Belgium, to support the reintegration into the labor market of 3 414 workers displaced in Audi and 5 suppliers and downstream producers, following the closure of Audi's production plant in Brussels. To this end, the proposal requests the mobilisation of EUR 7 527 625, covering 85% of the total costs associated with the proposed reintegration measures.
