BUDG members exchanged views with Ms Stéphanie Riso, European Commission's Director-General for Budget, on the state of play of the headroom in the EU Budget.

The co-rapporteurs for the next EU long term budget (multiannual financial framework - MFF), Siegfried Mureșan and Carla Tavares, presented their draft own initiative report 'A revamped long-term budget for the Union in a changing world'.

On the occasion of the European Parliamentary Week 2025, organised by the European Parliament and the Sejm and Senate of the Republic of Poland, the Committee on Budgets held an Inter-Committee Meeting on Monday 17 February at 16.20-19.20.

On 10 February 2025, Members from the Committee on Budgets and the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs held the first Recovery and Resilience Dialogue (RRD) since the entry into office of the new European Commission with Raffaele Fitto, Executive Vice-President of the Commission for Cohesion and Reforms and Valdis Dombrovskis, Commissioner for Economy and Productivity, Implementation and Simplification.

Ms Flores, Chair of the InvestEU Steering Board, attended a joint BUDG-ECON meeting for an exchange of views with Members on the performance of InvestEU, in accordance with Article 27 of the InvestEU Regulation.

Members of the Committee on Budgets exchanged with Piotr Serafin, Commissioner for Budget, Anti-Fraud and Public Administration, for the first time in his new capacity.

The Committee on Budgets held a debate on the guidelines for next year's budget, presented by the general rapporteur for the 2026 EU budget - Section III, Mr Andrzej Halicki (EPP).

Following the European Council 's decision of December 2023 to open accession negotiations with Ukraine and Moldova and grant candidate status to Georgia, the issue of enlargement is high on the EU agenda. The Committee on Budgets commissioned an in-depth study on the impacts that the new round of enlargement will pose in the EU budget. Members heard from the authors, who presented their findings.
