2 September: Public Hearing on Industrial Accelerator Act
On 2 September 2026, the Committees on International Trade (INTA), Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE), and Internal Market and Consumer Protection (IMCO) will hold a joint public hearing to support their legislative work on the Industrial Accelerator Act (IAA). The hearing will bring together leading experts and industry stakeholders to discuss two key aspects of the proposal.
The first panel will examine the “Made in EU” framework, including origin requirements and conditions for foreign investment, and how these can reduce strategic dependencies while keeping Europe attractive to investment. The second will focus on lead markets and EU competitiveness, including measures to stimulate demand for European low-carbon products, investment and job creation.
Why does it matter for citizens and businesses?
The IAA could strengthen Europe’s economic resilience, quality jobs and capacity to produce strategic technologies and affect investment decisions, market access, demand for European-made products and administrative requirements.
What’s next?
The hearing will inform the Committees’ work. The draft report should be presented on 28 September 2026, with a joint committee vote scheduled for 1 December 2026.
