Ensuring Safe and Sustainable Construction Materials in Housing Stock across the EU
Members of the European Parliament held a public hearing on the role of construction materials and the construction products framework in delivering affordable, safe and sustainable housing across Europe. The discussion examined the drivers behind rising housing costs and explore ways to increase the supply of affordable homes, with particular focus on material costs and the regulatory conditions affecting construction capacity.
Study presentation in the TRAN Committee
The Committee on Legal Affairs, with the support of the Policy Department for Justice, Civil Liberties and Institutional Affairs, organized a workshop on the evaluation of the Intellectual Property Rights Enforcement Directive 2004/48/EC. The event took place on 3 June 2026, from 15:00 to 16:00.
The hearing on "NRPPs and lessons from the RRF delivery model: long-term EU resilience and social cohesion in the context of demographic challenges" examines the budgetary implications of the proposed NRPPs under the 2028–2034 MFF, drawing on lessons from the RRF delivery model to assess how performance-based financing, conditionalities and flexibilities can support long-term investment predictability and address structural challenges such as demographic change and social cohesion.
On 3 June 2026, the FEMM and LIBE Committees will jointly organise a public hearing on the forthcoming ‘New Strategy on Anti-Trafficking’, to be presented later this year by the European Commission. The hearing will focus on the implementation and results of the EU Strategy on Combatting Trafficking in Human Bengs (2021-2025), the lessons learnt and possible ways forward to strengthen the EU response to trafficking in human beings.
The Committee on Fisheries (PECH) is organising a public hearing on “Tackling fisheries related crimes and protecting EU fishers and fisheries from such crime and IUU fishing”, which will take place on Wednesday, 3 June 2026, from 10:00 to 12:00.
On Tuesday 2 June 2026 at 15h00 during the AGRI committee meeting the Policy Department for Regional Development, Agriculture and Fisheries will present a new study entitled "The Bioeconomy in the Agriculture of the Future: Its role in Promoting Farms’ Economic Sustainability".
