#CharlestonAsia ORCID We are breaking down silos! Jesse X. Scott Edmunds !
ORCID’s mission is to enable transparent and trustworthy connections between researchers, their contributions, and their affiliations by providing a unique, persistent identifier for individuals to use as they engage in research, scholarship, and innovation activities. We do this by providing three important things: 1. The ORCID iD: a unique, persistent identifier free of charge to researchers 2. An ORCID record connected to the ORCID iD, and 3. A set of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), as well as the services and support of communities of practice that enable interoperability between an ORCID record and member organizations so researchers can choose to allow connection of their iD with their affiliations and contributions ORCID is a global, not-for-profit organization sustained by fees from our member organizations. We are community-built and governed by a Board of Directors representative of our membership with wide stakeholder representation. ORCID is supported by a dedicated and knowledgeable professional staff.

Real world PID ORCiD case studies for how to benefit from adoption. Recall the gym analogy - the more in depth research infrastructure is implemented , the greater values to the research community.
If you are at the Charleston Asia meeting next week come and check out our Tuesday afternoon roundtable, where Estelle Cheng, Jesse X. and myself will be talking about ORCID across the research cycle, and why PIDs are the best thing since sliced bread and pandan custard (it is Bangkok...). It's been a little over one year since we added new work types to the ORCID record to support arts and humanities scholars. 🤩 What work types have you added? Let us know in the comments. 🎭 Artist-researchers: did you know you can add your creative works to your ORCID record? Here's how: Under 'Works,' choose to 'Add,' and then 'Add Manually.' In the 'Work Details' section, under 'Work Types,' select 'Creative.' You'll get options like 'Moving Image or Video,' 'Musical Composition,' and 'Creative Output or Product' (which I used for my novels). To see how they look in situ, scroll to the bottom of my ORCID record: https://lnkd.in/e-zJNcUm #ArtworkIsWork
