What is UN iLibrary?
The United Nations iLibrary is an online collection providing easy access to thousands of books, reports, and journals created by the United Nations available for search, share, and download in one place.

The UN iLibrary platform offers useful research features: full-text search, user-friendly navigation, granular search results down to the article and chapter level, and a citation tool.
What types of content can I find on the UN iLibrary?
It includes books, working papers, journals, and datasets from the 50+ UN departments and agencies, covering a wide range of the UN’s priority issues such as international peace and security, human rights, economic and social development, climate change, and more.
How many titles are currently available on the UN iLibrary?
There are 9,000 titles on the platform. About 500 additional titles are added every year.
Is there multilingual content?
Yes. Content is available in the six official languages of the United Nations (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, Spanish) and more.
Can I access UN iLibrary on a tablet or mobile device?
The platform is optimized for both desktop and mobile devices.
Can I download the content on my computer?
Anyone anywhere in the world with an internet connection can search, read, share and embed all United Nations books and journals via the READ Online feature. Content can be downloaded if your institution has a subscription.
What are the benefits of registering for a user account on UN iLibrary?
Your user account enables you to use personalization features offered on the site, such as tagging content items as your favourites for sharing or reference, saving searches for re-use, and activating these saved searches to receive email alerts of new content.
Please note that a personal user account does not provide access to downloadable content. This function is only available to institutional subscribers. Check our section on the howto subscribe for more information.
How can I subscribe to the UN iLibrary?
UN iLibrary subscriptions are available to public and private institutions, libraries, and organizations. We suggest you contact your library to see if they hold a subscription to the UN iLibrary. Subscription features allow for institution-wide use and download of the UN iLibrary content and provide specific resources to libraries for cataloguing and user analytics.
