Attack rate
The attack rate, often called attack speed, determines the interval at which a monster attacks. Player's weapons also possess attack speeds, but this attribute is hidden and is only used to calculate a weapon's damage; all players attack every 3 ticks (1.8 seconds), which is the global cooldown.
Attack rates are represented by a bar on which there are several possible values ranging from 1 (fastest) to 10 (slowest) rate monsters. The delay time in seconds between each attack is equal to , where represents the length in seconds of a single game tick and is the amount of game ticks.

Development history
[edit | edit source]Weapons
[edit | edit source]Formerly, the player's weapons had different attack speeds, relevant when performing auto-attacks. After the Combat Style Modernisation update, weapon attack speeds are hidden. With the removal of auto-attacks and addition of basic attacks operating on a fixed 1.8 second global cooldown, individual weapon speeds are no longer functionally relevant.
The speed of a weapon was represented by a word on the tooltip of the weapon. These primarily ranged from "average" to "fastest". This was later replaced by an attack rate expressed in seconds.
