  •  💪🏼 What’s the power of a more educated society?  More democracy, equality, and opportunities.      💡 On the International Day of Education, we reaffirm the role of education in fuelling potential, creating a fairer society, and supporting talent.     Education is a lifelong journey that supports talent, equality, and progress at every stage of life.     One of our most recent initiatives is the Union of Skills, which aims to enhance high-quality education, training, and lifelong learning. Learning is at the heart of this plan, helping to make Europe more competitive and resilient.

    • Graphic of a power button icon where the top segment is replaced by a book, symbolizing education as power. The text reads “Education is Power,” with the European Commission logo visible.
  • Europe stands strong together.     Last night's Council meeting brought clarity on transatlantic relations, with a focus on Greenland and Ukraine.     Europe, standing firm and united in full solidarity with Greenland and Denmark, has us in a better place.    We are stepping up Arctic investments for energy, materials, and security, including new partnerships in the region.     For Ukraine, amid Russia's attacks, as winter cold bites, we are delivering 447 generators to power hospitals and shelters.     Peace talks advance with a Prosperity Framework nearly ready with five pillars for growth, from reforms and market integration to investments and anti-corruption.     Unity inspires action. Let's keep moving forward.    Read the full statement of President von der Leyen: https://lnkd.in/eWzqRGxK

  • Earth needs urgent action now.    The Copernicus ECMWF Global Climate report 2025 shows temperatures hit the third highest on record. The 2023–2025 period was marked by extreme heat, wildfires, and storms, all closely linked to rising greenhouse gas emissions. Other warning signs: 🌍 Polar temperature anomalies, with a record high in Antarctica  🌊 Global sea surface temperatures stayed historically high This year, we will present a new European Framework for climate resilience and risk management. We remain committed to becoming climate-neutral by 2050.

    • A global map illustrating anomalies and extremes in surface air temperature for 2025, compared to the reference period 1991-2020. The map uses a color scale from blue to red, where blue indicates cooler than average temperatures and red indicates warmer than average temperatures, with darker shades representing more extreme deviations. The map highlights significant warming across most regions, especially in the northern hemisphere, with some areas showing near average or slightly cooler temperatures. The image is provided by the Climate Change Service, with logos of the European Commission and Copernicus at the bottom.

  • True equality and freedom from discrimination is not yet a reality in our Union.     This must change.    Despite significant progress in recent years, the latest Eurobarometer on discrimination shows almost two in three EU citizens still view racial discrimination as a widespread issue in their country.    Today, we’ve adopted the new EU Anti-Racism Strategy to combat racism in all its forms by:  ✅ Ensuring full implementation and enforcement of EU anti-discrimination laws  ✅ Promoting inclusion in education, employment, healthcare, and housing  ✅ Joining forces at all levels of society to fight racism    We call for a Europe free from racism, where individuals can thrive, fully participate in society, and contribute to its stability and prosperity.    Upholding EU values. Strengthening our Union. 🇪🇺     Find out more: https://lnkd.in/e8vbrpKS

  • Building a stronger, more independent Europe 🇨🇾🇪🇺 This week, the College of Commissioners visited Cyprus as preparations get underway for the 2026 Presidency of the Council of the EU.
