  • The first-ever 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐇𝐲𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐮𝐦 takes place on 19 - 20 March in Rotterdam, Netherlands. ➡️ Organised by the Commission, the forum will gather key stakeholders to discuss the opportunities and challenges related to the development of the hydrogen market and regulation in Europe. 📬 Attendance is by invite only - participants and speakers will include EU countries, national regulatory authorities, the European Commission, representatives of the hydrogen sector including infrastructure operators, producers, end-users, appliances manufacturers, traders, as well as academia and NGOs.   • ✨ The EU’s 𝐇𝐲𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐧 𝐌𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐦 is a new, innovative tool to help develop the hydrogen market. At the end of last year, the Commission launched a first call for suppliers’ interest under the mechanism and received offers from 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 260 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬 from European and international companies. ➡️ Now it’s time for the 𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐩𝐡𝐚𝐬𝐞!   • Thanks to the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), the EU is saving 33.4 million MWh of energy every year⚡ This is equivalent to the annual energy consumption of 20.9 million Europeans, highlighting the concrete impact of EU investments. The RRF finances a wide range of energy-related projects and reforms, including energy efficiency, renewables, energy infrastructure, and hydrogen.   • Like many EU regions, Flanders (Belgium) is committed to tackling energy and climate challenges, including improving buildings’ energy performance by 75% by 2050.   • Where does the electricity we consume come from? 🔌⚡ Recent Eurostat data shows that 47.5% of EU's electricity consumption came from renewables in 2024! Wind powered 38% of our renewable electricity consumption, followed by hydropower (26.4%), solar (23.4%) and solid biofuels (5.8%). Solar is the fastest growing source - up from just 1% in 2008! ☀️↗️ In 3 EU countries, electricity generated from renewable sources accounted for more than 75% of total electricity consumption.   • The 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐆𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐬 for the 2nd quarter 2025 saw a further return to more stable and predictable levels. 🚘 ↗️There was a record high of over 720 000 new electric vehicles (EVs) sold in the EU's passenger car segment in Q2 2025, which is a yearly increase of almost 30% compared with Q2 2024. 🚢 ↘️Russian gas imports, both pipeline and LNG, displayed a significant decline in Q2 2025: 29% year-on-year, and 9% quarter-on-quarter.
