On 27 January, from 16:30 to 17:30, the study on the future of EU tax policy harmonisation will be presented in the FISC Subcommittee meeting. The purpose of the study is to analyse how fragmented tax rules in the EU could create economic and administrative costs, i.e. the cost of non-Europe, in taxation.

The policy dialogue on “Transnational Repression (TNR): Mapping Trends and Improving Responses” was jointly organised by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (UN Human Rights), the European Parliament Sub-committee on Human Rights (DROI) and the European External Action Service (EEAS), in collaboration with the Tackling TNR Europe Civil Society Working Group and took place in Parliament on 4 December 2025.
On 4 December, Commissioner for Internal Affairs and Migration, Magnus Brunner, participated in an exchange of views with Members of the LIBE Committee on the long-term European Asylum and Migration Management Strategy, which the Commission is currently preparing. This Strategy marks a key milestone in the implementation of the Pact on Migration and Asylum, which is due to enter into force in June 2026.

The Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) has taken a major step forward in the selection process for the next European Chief Prosecutor, a role central to safeguarding the financial interests of the European Union. On 3 December 2025, LIBE held public hearings with the shortlisted candidates, providing a transparent platform for them to present their vision for leading the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO).
