  • Building a stronger, more independent Europe 🇨🇾🇪🇺 This week, the College of Commissioners visited Cyprus as preparations get underway for the 2026 Presidency of the Council of the EU. Our shared focus is on strengthening Europe’s independence, from security and defence to competitiveness, decarbonisation, and strong global partnerships. Drawing on Cyprus’ expertise, we will advance a common agenda: supporting Ukraine, strengthening European defence, cutting red tape, advancing trade, managing migration, and shaping the EU’s next long-term budget. We’re keeping our drinking water safe. 💧    From today, EU countries must monitor per and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) levels in drinking water.    PFAS are long-lasting chemicals that can be harmful to health, if levels are too high.    This is the first time PFAS are being systematically monitored across the EU.    If the limit is exceeded, EU countries must take action to reduce the level of PFAS.     This may include closing contaminated wells, adding treatment steps, or restricting the use of drinking water supplies.    Because everyone deserves access to safe drinking water.

  • 80 years ago, the world came together like never before.    For the first time, former enemies and allies were sitting at the same table, speaking the language of diplomacy.     51 countries were ready to maintain peace and security in the post-World War II era.    Today, the UN General Assembly remains a vital space where every nation has a voice.

    • The text in black on grey texture background reads: ‘80 years ago, the world chose dialogue over violence. Today, it’s still the right choice.’ The EU logo in bla in the top right corner.

We are very well aware of the fact that X for Grok is now offering a spicy mode showing explicit sexual content with some output generated with childlike images: 📌 A detailed request for information on Grok has already been sent to X, and we are reviewing the company’s responses. 📌 In addition, X has been ordered to retain all internal documents and data concerning Grok’s features until the end of 2026. The Digital Services Act is very clear: In the EU, all platforms have to get their own house in order.    Because we cannot tolerate such output.    Compliance with EU law is not an option. It’s an obligation. - Spokesperson Thomas REGNIER
