Upholding democracy takes work, every day, and we all have our part to play!    In September, we gathered 150 randomly selected people from across Europe in Brussels to discuss how we can make our democracies stronger.    This weekend, they’re gathering once again to continue the discussion. Hot take: a good job is one you don’t dread on Sunday evenings.   Over the past decade, pay, job security and working time have improved across the EU. That is what our new Employment and Social Outlook finds.   But too many people still face unsocial hours, short contracts, and low pay. Can you guess which parts of Earth you are looking at?🌍 As a part of the EU’s Copernicus programme, new Sentinel-3C has sent back its first images of Earth.    From Italy to the Canadian Arctic and the Caribbean the views are stunning. By joining Sentinel-3A and Sentinel-3B, Sentinel-3C will ensure the continuous delivery of high-quality data used by scientists, public authorities and businesses to understand climate change and respond to environmental challenges. The images are pretty impressive, aren’t they?

Before 2012, a bottle of wine didn’t have to tell you what was in it.    Not the sulphites. Not the egg whites used in fining. Not the fish gelatine that some winemakers use as a processing aid.    Someone with allergies could check the label to avoid reactions, but only see... ‘wine’.    We changed that.    Allergen labelling became mandatory across all food and drinks sold in Europe.    Wine is still wine.  They just can't mask secret ingredients now!    — Regulation (EC) No 607/2009 & Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011: Wine allergen labelling. Everyone should be free to be themselves and love who they love. 🧡 Yet 42% of lesbian women reported experiencing discrimination.    On International Lesbian Day, we celebrate lesbian women and stand for a simple principle:    We deserve to be free from discrimination, exclusion or violence.    Equality and non-discrimination are fundamental EU rights — and they belong to everyone.
