Maces are one-handed melee crush weapons, and are one of the few weapons that provide a Prayer bonus. Maces are identical in attack speed and damage to scimitars, claws, and daggers.

Players can buy maces from bronze to adamant, excluding black and white maces, from Flynn's Mace Market in Falador or from the Warriors' Guild Armoury. Rune maces can be bought from the Champions' Guild. Dragon maces can be bought from the Heroes' Guild and require the completion of the Heroes' Quest to be wielded. The white mace can be bought from the White Knight Master Armoury at Noble rank. Bronze to rune maces barring black and white maces can also be smithed using 2 bars of the respective metal.

Although flails are not technically maces, the Verac's flail is classified as a mace due to its Prayer bonus.

Trivia

[edit | edit source]
  • The two Barrows maces are two-handed, making them more akin to mauls.
  • In Legacy Mode (and prior to the Evolution of Combat), the player uses both hands to swing a main hand mace when attacking, despite it being a one-handed weapon. However, they use one hand to swing the off-hand.
  • Maces appear smaller when sheathed than they do in the hand.
  • Prior to the Evolution of Combat, maces were not often used, as they had a relatively slow attack speed and less damage than the more popular weapons. After the EoC, since all weapons with the same tier has the same DPS, maces are now usually superior to other weapons of the same tier as it retained its advantage of having Prayer bonuses.
  • Most maces adamant and up are spiked. In real life, mace are generally blunt weapons. Spiked versions may be referred to as morning stars.
  • The southern Menaphite royal guard in the Golden Palace mentions maces: "I really wish the Pharaoh would give us maces for dealing with protests, but we have no need for the prayer bonus."
