La iniciativa ciudadana europea permite que un millón de ciudadanos de al menos una cuarta parte de los Estados miembros de la UE pidan a la Comisión Europea que proponga legislación en ámbitos de su competencia. A los organizadores de las iniciativas que prosperan se les invita a presentar la iniciativa en cuestión en una audiencia pública celebrada en el Parlamento Europeo, ante la comisión legislativa competente para el fondo del asunto. Three European Parliament committees, IMCO, JURI and PETI, held a public hearing on the European Citizens’ Initiative “Stop Destroying Videogames.” The hearing follows the initiative’s submission on 26 January 2026 and gave its organisers the chance to present their proposal. Members of Parliament questioned the European Commission about actions it may take in response.

The LIBE Committee hosted a Public Hearing on the European Citizens’ Initiative (ECI) calling for a "Ban on conversion practices in the European Union". The hearing took place with the involvement of the Committee on Petitions (PETI) and the participation of the Committee on Gender Equality and Women’s Rights (FEMM).
