📔 New post on the OPERAS Research Infrastructure blog: “From OMP to DOAB, via Thoth: Open Collaboration to Amplify Slovenian OA Books“ - featuring a recap of the workshop from our SCIROS x OPERAS 2026 conference! 📓 The organizers of the workshop have published an analytical post on the OPERAS blog. The workshop centred on a concrete national use case: three publishers (Založba ZRC, University of Ljubljana Press, and University of Maribor Press) within the Slovenian OPERAS node. It also included a presentation on interoperable workflows for open access books and metadata using key infrastructures: Open Monograph Press (Public Knowledge Project), Directory of Open Access Books, Open Access Publishing in European Networks (OAPEN Foundation), and Thoth Open Metadata. In the post, you will find: 🔹 Survey results regarding the use of Open Monograph Press (OMP) by publishers. 🔹A Shared Framework for Better Metadata, which “seeks to establish a common baseline of metadata elements that can support interoperability across different platforms and infrastructures while remaining realistic for publishers with varying capacities.“ 🔹An overview of how the Slovenian use case provided an opportunity to demonstrate how multiple open infrastructures can be connected into a more coherent workflow and help address a key issue: the “Leaky Metadata Pipeline”- which refers to a significant loss of metadata, reaching up to 90%, in the distribution process of books originally published in open access.
